Kitchen Flooring

Today was such a great day!  I went for a morning walk with a friend, had lunch with Kidlets #1-3 on their last day of Farm Camp and then had a spontaneous run to Bubble Tea and the park with a friend.  It was good to get outside and enjoy the cool July day.  Who ever has said cool July day in the midwest?!?!  We are loving it!!

I wanted to give you all the low down on the flooring in the kitchen.  Finding what I wanted was not easy, but I'm thrilled with how it turned out.

Originally I thought I might continue the wood flooring throughout the whole house but quickly decided against that for both expense and time.  I first REALLY thought about painting over the existing linoleum and doing a really cool stencil but after researching it I just wasn't sure it would hold up to the wear and tear of being a main traffic area.

But then I came across this linoleum tile that I just loved and thought would be so cool to do!

Isn't it just gorgeous and fun!!!  Only problem is that I could only find it in England and went to a flooring place here and was told they don't sell it here in the states.  I probably could have found it if I had worked a bit harder, but so many things were going on that I needed to find something fairly quickly.

One day I came across this on Pinterest and I was sold!!

I was really excited about this product then I found it.  It is an extremely realistic looking tile product that is actually a peel and stick vinyl tile that you can grout.  The color is Coastal Grey by Traffic Master sold at Home Depot.  The installer was so impressed with how it looked that he said most people would be hard pressed to tell it's not actual tile.  In fact, several of my friends have thought it was tile until I told them.  It had been holding up well and I love how much softer it is on my feet.  We had tile in the old house and it was hard on my feet.

I was a bit hesitant to go with a grey floor, but it has been great so far since it goes away and really lets other things be the show case instead of being the showcase itself.  Here it is in my kitchen:

And this cute face just makes anything look good!

Have a great night!  I'll be back tomorrow with some food for thought!
