Master Bedroom Reveal

One of the things I'm learning in this who house documentation process is that you sometimes don't cover everything you should and things get dropped that you have meant to cover.  The good thing is that it's not going anywhere and sooner or later I will get to it.

I'm rectifying the neglect of not revealing the master bedroom.  Other than the loft, this is my second most favorite space in the house.  It has vaulted ceilings and doors that lead to the deck - so fun!!  It also has a window seat that will be fun to curl up in and watch the snow fall someday.  One of my biggest suggestions for decorating a home is to start with the master bedroom.  In our last house I did that and it was great.  It gave me a beautiful oasis to retreat to after a long day.  It was a literal sanctuary of peace and serenity.  My whole house could be a mess, but if my bedroom was picked up, I could cope.

Unfortunately in this house, my master bedroom is not going to be done as soon as I would like because of the master bathroom redo.  That needs to happen first, but I know it will get there and it will be amazing!!

Here is what the master looked like when we bought the house:

You will notice that the bed set was there when we bought the house.  When we looked at the house the bedroom set was the only thing I liked of the previous owners things.  I know it's not typical to ask for furniture of the owner, but I though it wouldn't hurt.  We asked and he said yes, and it ended up being a win-win for both of us.  It was also a king and we were in need of the upgrade.  We have loved it and I don't regret it.  Besides the bed frame, it came with a night stand and dresser.  Since we already have our own, they will be going in another bedroom.

For the time between when we bought the house and before we moved in, this room housed all of our contractors tools.  It was quite the sight!

I wish I could say it when up in looks when we moved in, but because of the fact that we have no access to the closet, it almost looked like a storage unit with all the boxes!

As you saw yesterday, it has become quite more organized - although still storagy looking.  But I know it's temporary so I'm dealing with it.

As you can see, I'm not the best bed maker right now.  I openly hate making my bed but I love the way it makes my room feel so I got into a really good habit of doing it most days in the old house.  It's been hard here because we bought a memory foam mattress (which we LOVE) but it sits really low.  This weekend we are going to buy box springs to raise it up and then I'm going to put the new bedding I have on.  That will help a lot.

My plans for this room consist of this:

*Painting the walls "Silver Sage" by Restoration Hardware.
*Painting all the trim and doors white like the rest of the house.
*Hanging Pictures on the walls.
*Accessorizing the nightstands and dresser.
*Making a cushion and pillows for the window seat.
*Getting new shades.

Eventually I might like to plank the ceiling, but that is not a priority at this point.

I hope you all have a fabulous Thursday evening.  Hopefully it's the start of a long weekend for most of you!!  I will be back tomorrow with a post for your thoughts over the weekend.

Have a great one!
