A Space For "Ponderizing" (November Challenge Day #9)

Last year my friend got a gift of a large frame with a chalkboard in the middle.  She has hung it a prominent place in her home and every time I am at her house she has written a new scripture or saying for her family to be able to read and ponder on whenever they see it.  I have always loved that idea and wanted to do the same in our home.  After hearing THIS talk at our church's recent General Conference, I knew I had to do the same.

In my addiction to all things Pinterest I came across this pin:

I had originally intended to mimic this on a mirror for the guest bathroom, but over time I decided I wanted it in a bit more prominent area.  When one of my friends was giving away her free mirror I knew just what I would use it for.

Here is what I started out with:

To begin with I painted the mirror part with Chalkboard paint.  It took several layers and a bit of patience, but I think it turned out great.

Then I covered the chalkboard paint with bags and painters tape and headed to Hobby Lobby and bought several things that I thought represented this house.  I added the "T" for our last name, foliage to represent our bigger yard, and bugs to represent all the wildlife we have encountered while living here. Everyone in my family thought the bugs were weird and I shouldn't add them, but I love them so I didn't listen to any of their remarks.  Here is what it looked like once I hot glue gunned everything on.  It's a bit of a weird angle since I took it from my loft looking down.

Once that was all done, I took it out on my lawn and spray painted the whole thing white.  The hubby then hung it in our kitchen this last Saturday night.  I am SO pleased with how it turned out.  It is the perfect addition to this wall in the kitchen and I hope it will be a place to write inspiring words for my family to enjoy for years to come!
